I Can’t Afford Hannaford Security Breach
I was contacted by the security department of one of my credit card companies Saturday night about possible fraud on my card. I thought it was a hoax, but when they called back twice and left a message on my machine, I thought I had better check into it. When I called back, I asked how do I know you are really someone from the credit card security department. The man who answered advised me to hang up and call the number on the back of my card, which I did.
The short of it is there were fraudulent charges on my card due to the fact I had used the card in January at Hannafords. I have cancelled the card.
I have also decided to get rid of several credit cards and just use one or two.
To be on the safe side, call your credit card company and check out your latest transactions to see if there are charges you didn’t make.
