Crumbs along the Mohawk. Former Charles Manson family member Squeaky Lynette Fromme moves to the Mohawk Valley

Squeaky Lynette Fromme, a former member of the Charles Manson “family” is moving to Marcy, a town located between Rome and Utica, in the Mohawk Valley. Fromme, now 60 years old, was released from prison on August 14, after serving 34 years of a life sentence for an assassination attempt on President Gerald Ford in 1975.

Marcy was carved out of the Town of Deerfield, the setting for much of Walter Edmonds’ novel, Drums Along the Mohawk.

  • Well, aren’t we lucky.

BTW, how does someone who’s obviously unrepentant get out of a life sentence?

  • @akagaga she’s in jail for attempted assassination of Pres. Ford, which she didn’t speak on and the narrator barely mentioned. Being a nut case and praising fake leaders is not against the law, and it’s quite common.

Anyway, the clip is 22 years old. I’m curious if she’s still a Manson follower. Most of the others seem to have grown up (even if still behind bars), or disappeared.

  • @LM Watch the second clip where she talks in detail about the assassination attempt, and seems to find it all very amusing. Although this interview is not dated, her face is lined with wrinkles. It’s much more recent, posted in 2006.

  • She did her time, was a model inmate, and according to our own prison justice system, was released when authorities felt she had paid for her crime. “Life” in most prisons does not actually mean “life.” It means a minimum of 25 years…
